Syngenta announced on March 17 that it is building the Biological Sciences Technology and Research center (BioSTaR) at its R&D hub in Jealott’s Hill, the UK, with an investment of more than 900 million yuan. Syngenta’s Jealott’s Hill R&D site is the largest research facility in the UK dedicated to agricultural technology research, and Syngenta’s largest crop protection R&D site worldwide,?currently?employing more than 800 scientists. BioSTaR is expected to be fully operational in 2028, as a world-leading research center for agricultural bioscience. Once completed, the facility will bring together around?300 scientists,?delivering the latest advances in biological sciences, molecular and analytical research and digital innovation, through the deep integration of artificial intelligence and big data analytics. The facility will work at the frontiers of key agricultural technologies, including how organisms interact with the environment, the development of novel chemical and biological agents, how compounds move through plants and soils?and?how they break down, and innovative biomanufacturing processes, accelerating?the development of next-generation sustainable agricultural solutions.
